Predator Problems WTF

Just got my predator tonite and wanted to see what it was all about. Opened the box, dod not see the power cord or interface cable. The vendor said it was part of the package. Whet to the car anyway. Plug it in to get main menu. Start the process and then i get "your car needs an update. Go to diablosport.com/dcx CALID:05030232AD" I go there and the directions are not that clear or im just a dumb ass (im leaning to the second one). I hear good things about the predator. I want to believe that it will work but at this time, im not that happy. HELP!!!

What vendor did you buy from?

Sounds like the Predator is not up to date with the latest crom software? In order to download it from your PC to the handheld, you MUST have the power cord and USB to RS232 serial adapter. No way around that.

Also, Diablo has a forum you can go to. It has a world of knowledge there, or you can call them. They have an ok Support Line.

Sorry for your troubles though, but believe me, when you finally do get to throw the canned tune in, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Re: Predator Problems WTF

Tbyrne is the vendor. I read from diablo web site that the power cord is not needed if you have a laptop you can carry into the car. Once you plug it into the car port, i should have power. I guess that i need that RS232 cord. just happened to have a cord at home, but its not the one i can use with the predator per the diablo site. Its made by Belkin. I was able to download the sortware with no problem and the crom update. Cant get communication to the unit with this cord. I will try in the morning to find the cord. I bought the unit from this vendor because they advertised that the 12v and interface cord was included. I have an e-mail into their sales department on that. I hope i will be one of those predator owners that jump up and down about what this unit does. I really hope so.

Re: Predator Problems WTF

Well TByrne is not a very liked vendor. They are the KMart of aftermarket. Hopefully Tom takes care of you???

Re: Predator Problems WTF

Thanks 1bad4dr for the information. I went to the diablo site this morning and was able to get a sheet telling me which cables and power cords to get. Downloaded the new software on the unit and will go home after work to see what it does. I hope that there are no new hurdles to jump. I still have not heard from Tbyrne regarding the promised interface kit. I dont think i will hear from them. Once again thank you. I was almost ready to send it back and not deal with the crap.

Thumbs up Re: Predator Problems WTF

Not my car just like the pic. I have a maggie. Here we go. I got home from work to install the diablo on the maggie. The upgrade from the diablo site was easy, not as bad as i thought. That took less than 3 mins. Plugged it in and followed the directions. It took all of 15-20 mins. The true test was the first drive after install. WOW! When i read threads from this site i thought guys were full of sh*t when they said that the diablo was the real deal. Trying to justify spending $350 for a tuner that looks like a a video game from the 80's. It is real! Throttle response is crisp. I had a very bad throttle lag and the car would feel like it was sluggish. Drive by wire was pretty bad. Now its great. The shifts are firm. No more lazy long shifts. Very direct and quick. My maggie is a little heavy in the ass due to the hatch compared to the charger and 300. At 15 mph, i can floor it and the wheels broke free. I drove for about 20 mins. Everytime i jumped on it, she kept it up. Have not had the chance to floor it from a dead stop. I will soon. 1BAD4DR, thank you for keeping my hope alive. I was ready to return the diablo after my vendor interaction, you said i would be happy. I am.

Re: Predator Problems WTF

Glad you gave it one last effort. Obviously the outcome is a good one. Well as far as the Diablo delivering as advertised. hehe

Happy motoring...
