Anyone considered electric exhaust cutouts?

Just wondering if anyone has considered installing exhaust cutouts on their Jeep SRT8... bet it would sound pretty awesome. The pic below shows the dump pipes on a 300C SRT8. There is a link to a video below that.

I saw this here and was considering it, we have a 3" pipe right? There isn't a problem getting an inspection with this on is there?

Re: Anyone considered electric exhaust cutouts?

I've had QTP's electric cut-out on one of my camaros. It worked very well for about 6 months. Totally crapped out after that.

Luckily, it was stuck open.

I agree, something that opens and closes, on a exhaust system, I think is asking for problems. The constant heat I think would destroy any mechanism in the cutout. .02

That or corrosion from crap on the roads. Better just to used a flange with a bolt on plate.

From what I've heard, Dougs Headers makes the best cutouts. Pretty expensive though!

What happens when you pull up to a potential KILL, you both rev your engines, but before you take off, YOU say hold on 1 second please I need to get under my car and take off my block off plate, You then proceed to get out of your car in the middle of traffic, I dont think so BAD IDEA. But on the other hand for track use the above quote would be fine.

Re: Anyone considered electric exhaust cutouts?

are you planning on finishing with the pipeing on the flanges or just leaving them under the car. If so what about the fumes, Sounds good, But at the end of the video it looks like you scared the SHIT out of the couple walking down the street.
