im kinda drunk right now, my bad for all the misspelled words, dont, worry, im nort going to drive tonight. i was just wondering, is there anyway to maximize the burn out potetial of the charger srt 8? i heard from a friend that if you put the tiptronics in neutral, and rev the enginge up, then you drop it down to drive, with the esp off, you would burn out for a heinous amount of time. i would appriciate some feedback if this is true and maybe some procedures of how to attempt this manuever. i have burned out with the esp off in standard drive, but nor for long, maybe its just the way ive been accelerating? i would love to impress my girl with the filthyiest burnout she has ever seen, and i know that my car is able to do it,i just would like that some of you could have some input on how to occomplish this feat. thanks for all your help...

Re: how to burn out?
First, congrats on the drinking. I feel like I need one now.
Second, this car was not built in 1972. You cannot do the so called "neutral drop" by revving the engine and engaging the trans. The person who told you this must like rebuilding transmissions. There is a safety feature that will not engage a gear until the revs come down to a safe level. Third, for a rolling burnout, keep it in 1st and just hold the brake a little until the rears brake loose for a second. Off you go. For a smoky "brake-stand" burnout, just continue to hold the brake lighty so the fronts brakes engage but not he rears. Or you could just wait until it gets below 65 degrees and stomp on it. Re: how to burn out?
Here is the only sure-fire way to get the most serious burnouts from your SRT8:
You'll need a few supplies before you get started. 1) A digital camcorder. (so you can show us all how cool this turns out) 2) A cinder block 3) A soft terrycloth towel Now you're ready to begin. Find a nice level section of asphalt near a strong building. Slowly and gently inch your front bumper up to the building stopping once you have made firm, but gentle, contact. (Make sure you do this slowly and carefully, you don't want to scratch your bumper.) With the car in "D" slowly bring your RPM's up to about 500 and then wail on the accelerator to break the tires loose. Stay on the accelerator until your speedo reads about 60mph and then set the cruise control so that the speed cannot drop lower. Wedge the cinderblock onto the accelerator pedal (cruise control is a backup in case the block dislodges... see, you have to ALWAYS be one step ahead) Now you're free to exit the vehicle and shoot some "gnarly video dude". Once done turn off cruise, slow down engine, and very carefully back the car up from the wall. Take the terrycloth towel and lightly swipe the front of the car and bumper to remove any dust that you may have created. Enjoy!

Re: how to burn out?
Just pop the clutch...
oh, sorry guys, didn't mean to be trollish!! One of the big reasons I fly GTO instead of SRT is the manual gearbox. With 3.91s I have to use 2nd to get the MTs hot!! When that Challenger M6 hits the streets, I will be glad to hold manual gearbox drag racing classes. Trust me, you guys are in for a treat. Can't wait to own one too! A German-american and an Aussie-american pair of hot rods!!
