I live in San Diego and will buy one of these some time soon hopefully. I am just not willing to pay the 10k dealer markup that these dealers around here are trying to get away with. No reason to drive off the lot already $10k in the hole. Anyways I am willing to drive anywhere in CA or the surrounsing states to get one at or near MSRP.....hope someone can help

Here's how you find one.

First, go to Jeep.com.

Next, on the left side of the screen click on "search inventory"

Then type in your zip code and click "go".

This will bring up pages of dealerships in order of proximity.

Then you must click on "inventory search" for each dealership to search their inventory.

By default, this page always show the 2006 Commander in the inventory search field. All you'll have to do is change that to "Cherokee" and it will automatically search.

Be patient, it works.

I found one for MSRP in less than two hours of searching.

if your willing to wait a little while, go to Carl Burgers in La Mesa and go to the FLEET SALES office in back. order one and pay like $500 over dealer cost plus the $50 membership fee. Almost bought my MSRT-8 there that way.

I ordered my car through foothill Chrysler jeep. Talk to Paul Whitehead. He can order one for you at will sell it at msrp. I've been hearing nothing but great things about this dealer. He also posts over a the 300c forums.

Hey razman what is the fleet sales office for? Is it a military thing or what?

As many have witnessed on my previous posts, finding a honest dealership in CA (Bay Area) is one of the hardest things I have done.
However, thanks to Lance, I have now placed an order at Brentwood Dodge/Jeep in Brentwood CA. The fleet manager Jim is one of the best people I have spoken to regarding the Jeep. As you all know, Lance has already taken delivery of his Silver SRT8, showing that Brentwood is able to get the order into the system as fast as possible.
The downside is Brentwood Dodge/Jeep wants 5k over MSRP which is a bit much, however, as anyone in CA knows, demand is high for any limited edition fast SUV.
As I found out, yes you can find dealerships that will sell for MSRP with no markup, however, it is very questionable when you will take delivery. At least Brentwood is able to get orders going and will keep you updated with the best information. A premium, yes, however your getting premium service.

I guess to each his own. While I can afford to pay someone $5K, for me it is about principal. Does this guy IMHO provide $5K in service, definately not. I have purchased mercedes, porsche and BMW and I have never paid over sticker. It all comes down to how much homework you are willing to do and how far in advance you are willing to plan.

I live in Los Angeles, which is prob the hottest car market in the US. I have a JC srt8 on order and should be shipped out of the factory on 2/1. How much did I pay... $300 over invoice (and that includes doc fees). I could have gotten the car in the first build, but I wasnt willing to pay sticker. When I hear the stories of people paying over sticker, I simply shrug and say to each his own. Note- I do have to pay to have the car transported, since I purchased out of state. (I want to baby the first few hundred miles).

In terms of limited edition, from Milious post, CA is getting the lions share of the cars. DC will produce as many of these cars that will sell. If you mean that you wont see these srt8s as rentals, then under that definition I would agree they are limited. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I dont think I saw anywhere that DC said they would produce a limited/fixed number of these cars.

no offience, but I don't think you know what an unreasonable car market is until you visit the Bay Area. I to know about BMW, Porsche, etc... take a look at my garage. However, I also never spent over MSRP. How? Its called having connections at Bay Area dealers. Yet still, going into the american car market, I have no connections. Am I willing to buy out of state, no. Why? Don't want to deal with it.
See here up in the Bay Area we are unreasonble people who sometimes want unreasonable things. In one hand were willing to pay 5k over, however on the other hand were unwilling to deal with the hassle of going out of state or out of area.
Look at when the M5 came out. Each dealer up here had a 54k markup on it. I just talked to the Ford dealer out here and they asked double the price for the Ford GT when it came out. Same goes for almost any hot car out here because people drive and buy them as if they were Nike shoes. Same goes for LA (So. Cal).
Still though, like I said, I have an order at another Jeep dealer for invoice flat. I was able to do it since that dealer is part of the dealership group that I get my BMW's from. However, getting it at invoice has the price of not knowing when it will ever come. I figure if Brentwood gets mine first, I'll pay the extra 5k plus the extra tax's. But if my other dealer gets it first, then I get it for invoice, plus I get a lower tax break since I have a house in that area also. Of course I would like to save the extra money, however sometimes us Bay Area people are unreasonable and do unreasonable things.
I can tell you this, when all the other Jeep (SRT8) guys are dumping HUGE money into intakes, exhaust systems, various parts, dyno's, etc... I will save by doing it all myself with my own materials and my own connections. After all its just knowing the right people or getting some bent tubing and TIG welding after jig'g it up off the stock layout. Damn us unreasonable Bay Area people... ;)

Rboosted717- I wasnt trying to be negative at all. I do agree that paying over msrp is fine as long as it isnt me :). To be honest, I was very tempted to purchase the car for msrp since the savings from invoice is only roughly $3K. This whole month I have gone back and forth and even regretted not just getting the car for msrp. Since I have a scheduled ship date, I dont feel as bad- but you never know. even my dealer out of state could be playing games.

I have a very good doctor friend (plastic surgeon) that doesnt mind paying over msrp because he doesnt want the hassle of shopping. when he sees a car he wants, he doesnt shop around and simply convinces the head sales manager to sell him the car.

I have seen it first hand how he has twice leapfrogged over people who have been on a waiting list for over 2 years with a deposit. He simply pays $10-15K over msrp and it works every time (911 gt3, sl55). The poor guy who was supposed to get the car gets a call with the excuse that there was a mixup with the order or the allocation sheet was not correct.

Either way, I would still like to work with you on the "improvements" on our new cars. If you get down to LA, I'll let you take her for a spin.
