Does this mean they will swap out our rotors for the slotted ones if they are scored??????? Mine are grooved and I only have 3300 miles... Is this a no charger thing????

I think the right thing to do for us ,,,is replace these with a rotor that will last at least 25,000 miles. ( I really don't break that hard,,,) I have bought el cheapo rotors that have lasted 50,000 before..:rulez:

He works at the dodge dealer and is in good with the service guys. I am heading out on vacation but will be posting when I here back from him. Thanks for the info , this is why I like this site, VERY GOOD INFORMATION and cool car guys.

Went to the dealer today and they said they have not had any problems yet...I had the TSB in hand and I told them i wanted to get a jump so they don't go on back order.... The service manager told me my rotors are fine .......B>S>..... I can feel groves with my finger not my finger nail. ANyway he said TSB's are only good for 12,000 miles and one year.. He told me they sell more SRT8's than most ... and has not had anyone in yet..

Go back and tell him he is retarded....... The TSB was just published not more than a week ago. Besides, most people would not be paying attention to the rotors anyway, unless there was a grinding noise coming from the brakes. lol
He cannot deny you if your rotors have the symptoms...
If he still deny's you, go to another dealer. lol Fem.......

Thanks for keeping on top of this issue. I have significant grooving, especially on the front rotors with just 3,000 miles on the odo. My friend at the local Midas who has been doing brakes for 20 years says they look like they have normal grooving for 18,000 miles. The dealer won't comment until their technician is able to take a look at them, as if they can't see them staring through the big gaps in the wheel spokes. I will go there with TSB in hand.
Thanks

Yea. Link please? I forgot if it was 6 times in succession or 8 times. and this better be worth it 'cause it's going to hurt me. I generally avoid using my brakes unless necessary prefering to down shift when it's an alternative. I'll just be cringing when I do this. Probably a hold over from driving a semi in my previous life. Always disconcerting when you used up your brakes before getting to the bottom of the hill... although that was less embarrassing than having to pull over with your trailer tires on fire

Well, I am a bit pissy.:icon_twisted: I complained about grooving at 600 miles, it is documented. I now have 5600 miles, the dealer has had my car for 2 days. I call to find out what is up, I am told the car is ready. I asked if the TSB for the brakes was done, I was told that a "brake inspection" was completed and the car is ready to be picked up. No parts on order, no TSB performed, just an inspection. WTF?? So, I am waiting for a call back from my service advisor prior to picking the vehicle up, any suggestions for conversation points??? Depends on the dealer, some will try anyting to not do the TSB. Mine said at 4400 mile I had road debrie in my breaks and that scored the rotors, then I was breaking to hard and neither of those were covered by warranty, non the less he turned my rotors. Why if it was not covered under warranty did he turn my rotors? Then I had to hear the story that the first fix is to turn the rotors the second fix is the new slotted rotors (I don't see that in the TSB). Then I had to hear that it is their call how they fix my breaks and they don't have to do it per the TSB.
After a week of refusing to pick up my car I got the slotted rotors.

Yeesh! You're right about depending on the dealer. I dropped mine off yesterday with 1000 miles on it for warranty paint scratches, some interior trim, etc. I mentioned the TSB to the service advisor and we looked at the rotors. You could just feel 1 or 2 ridges on the left rear and the right front. The other 2 were completely smooth. He put down "check rotors for TSB" on the work order. Called today to give me an update and said "Your car is indicated under the TSB but I have to order the rotors. Should be here when it gets back from the paint shop".
I'm pretty sure dealers make money on warranty work. Maybe not as much as non-warranty but still profit. You keep better mechanics if you have steady work. I don't think those guys get paid if they're standing around.

Ok, feeling much better now. Going UP the chain of command at the dealer got my new rotors on order. I always find it interesting how easy and smooth it is to purchase a vehicle, yet you often have to fight tooth and nail to get satisfaction in the service department. Hah, Five Star my a$$.

For once, I had absolutely no problems with the dealer. I called in my order because they already had pads ready for me and I mentioned the TSB. My new advisor told me he needed to look at it and I mentioned the inspection was in my file. That worked and 2 weeks later I hve my new brakes.

Take a copy of the TSB(Technical Service Bulletin to your dealer and tell him you have grooving in your rotors. They SHOULD replace the rotors and possibly the pads under warranty. Got mine at the dealers now getting it done. They would only turn the rotors until I showed them the TSB.

PMO:icon_mad: .... so I contact the dealer to get the sunroof rattle (TSB) , Damper (TSB) and the slotted rotor work done. They have ordered a new damper, repaired the rattle and replaced the old with new slotted rotors and have the pads on order. Perfect, right........? No FW. I specifically told the Service tech to put on the work order to be very careful when using an impact gun on the lugs nuts. Would you f@!!@!@ believe it, I pick up the car and 3 of the 4 rims are badly scored. :puke: So now they need to decide what to do. The maggie needs to go back for the other service work (noted above).
Funnily enough (and not funny ha ha) I told her I made the trip to their dealership because I was told they had SRT trained mechanics;)
Not a chance, she said they are all trained the same.
LESSON: I don't know if there is one, but before you get the brake TSB or any work get them to sign off on the condition of your rims!

I assume that since they are deciding what to do that they scored the wheels and not just the lug nuts? I don't see any problem. They will either replace or repair. I would state your preference that they are replaced. If there is any push back I would at least cc your regional factory rep with the letter. I'm guessing some shop kid who steam cleans engines, takes wheels on and off, sweeps up, etc. Expensive mistake that probably won't happen again.

I had my rotors done on tuesday, was supposed to be done monday. Dropped the car off, walk a mile or so to the mall, get a call an hour & a half later saying come get your car as someone forgot to order your pads. As he he did not have your VIN#. Is that what i sat down for a 1/2 an hour with the call center representative with my insurance papers so that she could take my info/VIN! So they check my horn (only the high works) & take my car for a drive (2Ks, change my stereo to one of my CDs while on their cruize) to check the F/end clunk & say that the canot hear anything out of the ordinary...
So i go in the next morning @ 9:00AM, ask "are my parts here"? (new rotors, pads & horn) Service advisor kinda mumbles sounding a little unsure "oh ya". So i decide to walk around the dealership & look @ Cars/trucks for a bit. Talked to the parts guys as i know them very well. So anyways i kill 2 hours & my car has still not moved. So i go find the tech that i requested to work on my car (he's on coffee break now <11:00>) So i politley ask him "are you going to work on my car soon"? He replies "I would have already, but they hid your rotors on themselves" Man what a hassle! So he says he has them now & will be pulling it soon. So i finally go to the mall ( for a few hours) come back & my car is still in the shop, so i go & sit in the waiting room & find more uneasy customers waiting for their rides to be worked on! So my parts buddy happens to walk by & says "you are still here"? "yup" He says "i'll go check on your car for you" Apperantly it had been ready for an hour & a half! Service advisor was supposed to call me... Get my car back, horn has not been fixed & they only put front pads in, not that i care, but, wait a day so they can order pads cause the 1st day the reason they gave me was that the tech did not want to change rotors w/o new pads! Get it straight guys, lol. Was not impressed to say the least. Then they say they ordered BOTH horns as he does not know which one is gone! Umm... stick your ear near em both & i will blast it for ya so ya can figure it out! OR just hold the horn & see which one is not working OR unplug the suckers one @ a time to see which one is not sounding...I would have to say its the low one as my cars horn sounds like a Honda's!!!
Sorry for sounding like a whiner, BUT, i hate the dealer (as i am sure MOST if not all of you do) And just wanted to get my story out there. To top it all off someone took a (didn't scratch) chunk out of my front facia just under the H/L. So i got a free touch up paint! Woo hoo, so impressed its not even funny.

Hey all, I had my TSB done for the brakes today and by the way I LOVE YOU ALL thank you so much for all the input on this as I went to my dealer loaded for bear. Called on Wednesday to make the appointment and make sure they had the parts, which I was told they did. So Loaded with my TSB from the "sticky" I went in and told them I wanted my pads replaced also since my rotors were rippled I was certain the pads were too. They did a great job no arguments the car was done prior to the promised time, everything excellent ...
well maybe not ...
that fn dust is still there as bad if not worse than before. The pad kits they used are 5174311 - AC / 5003003 F and 5174327 - AB / 5003003 R curious if anyone knows if these are the correct TSB replacement pads. Has the dust problem gone away for anyone that has had this done, and was it immediate or over time? Thanks Again all really do appreciate it.

Threads like these really make joining a forum a good idea. After reading this thread I checked my rotors, and if the grooves were any deeper they'd almost be slotted! Just got off the phone with my dealer (who advertise being ranked the #1 dealer in the country by Chrysler) and have an appointment set up for Monday morning. Hopefully their reputation will make this experience less frustrating then some of you have had to deal with.

I went by my dealer about two weeks ago to talk to him about the rotor TSB. I had about 2,600 on the car and at least two rotors showed scoring. He didn't even bother walking over to see them and just went ahead and ordered new slotted rotors and pads. He was already aware of the TSB. I just got back from there with the new equipment installed. They look great and feel fine.

All,
I took our Magnum to Gunn Dodge here in San Antonio and they are saying the pads do not get replaced with the new rotors. The TSB doesnt say they have to be but its stands to reason that deeply scored rotors leave deeply scored pads behind. A coworker of mine had the TSB done at a dealer across town and they replaced the pads and rotors on his Charger SRT-8. I am considering taking the car to the other dealer. Any thoughts?

It sucks but it's up to the dealer. Some 80grit sand paper on a block will clean the gouges off the pad if they won't replace them. You can also buy the new dust free pads and have them installed when they put the rotors on.

Is it multilple grooves like the old rotors or just one or two?If it's just one ore two you may have gotten a piece of dirt between the pad and the rotor.

Heres a question ...
Got the brake TSB done not too long ago ...
Driver side - rotor slots point to the back of the car.
Pass. side - rotor slots point to the front of the car.
Is this typical for everyone or did the dealership order me 2 drivers side sets.
Please keep in mind I do understand that if you put the driver side rotor on the passenger side the slot will point in the opposite direction .. the question is .. is there supposed to be a driver side and passenger side?
Thanks guys
